Dr Cooper will be joined by Dr Mark Duncan Smith, a Burns Specialist for an Aid trip planned for Bali in September 5-10, 2019. This has been organised by The John Fawcett Foundation in collaboration with the Kolewa Foundation. A clinic is planned for the Friday and will review a number of secondary paediatric burns cases. Surgery is then planned for the following 4 days in a Denpasar Hospital. We hope to perform up to 10 burns cases.
The surgeries are often complex and prolonged. They require cohesive team management and consume a lot of resources including drugs and dressings. The surgery is provided free of charge and the costs are borne by the Foundation. We are seeking funding from donations and our target is $30,000. Any contributions are gratefully accepted and are tax deductible.
