Brow lifts are much less commonly performed these days. A decade ago endoscopic brow lifts were all the rage. However, there were many overdone brows as a result with less than optimal aesthetic outcomes and some recurrence of brow ptosis later on.
Botox has enabled minimally invasive brow lifting with very specific results achievable and a low risk profile. However, it is not a permanent solution and must be repeated every 6-9 months or so.
Surgical brow lift is a more permanent solution and is often performed with facelift or eyelid procedures. Most of the focus is in the lateral brow or temple area with release of the lateral brow attachments and re suspension. The procedure is very safe and predictable with very few complications. Occasionally direct brow excision is recommended in the older patient.
